Itinerary

Negombo, a city with a rich history dating back to ancient Sri Lankan kings, gained its name from the Portuguese. Known as 'Little Rome' due to its large Catholic population, the city showcases Dutch colonial influence through its fort and Hamilton Canal. Negombo's economy centers around fishing, with its famous fish market displaying traditional drying methods. The Negombo Lagoon, a large estuarine body of water, supports fishing and agriculture while attracting diverse birdlife. The lagoon is surrounded by mangrove swamps and connects to the sea via a narrow channel. Nearby towns include Katunayake and Seeduwa. The Ancient City of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities globally. Known for its well-preserved ruins, it was a major Theravada Buddhism center. Notable features include dagobas, monastic buildings, pokunas, and the sacred Bo-Tree dating back to 245 BC.

After breakfast, transfer to Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage city and the last capital of Sri Lanka's ancient kings. Visit the Spice Garden, watch a Cultural Dance Show, and explore the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a sacred Buddhist site. Kandy is known for its tea plantations and rich cultural heritage. The spice trade flourished here, with cinnamon becoming a major export to Europe.
