Itinerary

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be transferred to Negombo, a charming coastal city with a rich history influenced by Portuguese, Dutch, and Sinhala culture. Known as “Little Rome” for its large Catholic community, Negombo features landmarks like Negombo Fort and St. Mary’s Church. The city is also a bustling fishing hub, with the famous Negombo Fish Market showcasing the day’s fresh catch. Visit the Negombo Lagoon, home to diverse wildlife and a thriving fishing industry, where you can enjoy a scenic cruise and spot birds, reptiles, and other native animals. Negombo offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and natural beauty for a relaxing introduction to Sri Lanka.

After breakfast at the hotel, the tour begins with visits to Sigiriya and Anuradhapura. Sigiriya, an ancient rock fortress in northern Matale District, rises 200 meters high. King Kasyapa (477–495 CE) built his royal palace atop the rock, decorating it with frescoes and a lion-shaped gateway. The fortress was abandoned after his death but remains a remarkable historical site. Anuradhapura, the capital of Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, is famous for its well-preserved ruins and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was a major center of Theravada Buddhism and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Key highlights include ancient dagobas, monastic buildings, bathing tanks, the Brazen Palace, and the sacred Bo-Tree, dating back to 245 BC. The day ends with a stay at Amaya Lake Dambulla, a tranquil lakeside hotel surrounded by lush nature. Guests can relax, cycle through the grounds, and enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, providing a peaceful conclusion to the day’s adventures.

After breakfast, visit Polonnaruwa, the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka, featuring the Royal Palace, Nissankalatha Mandapaya, and the Parakrama Samudra reservoir. Next, enjoy the Hiriwaduna Village Tour with a scenic boat ride, bullock cart through paddy fields, and a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. The day ends with a safari at Minneriya National Park, home to large elephant herds, diverse birds, and other wildlife.

After breakfast, transfer to Kandy and explore its key attractions: the Dambulla Cave Temple, a Spice Garden, a Cultural Dance Show, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Kandy, the last capital of ancient Sri Lankan kings, is famous for the Temple of the Tooth, which houses a sacred Buddha tooth. The Dambulla Cave Temple features five caves filled with Buddha statues and paintings, with historical significance dating back to prehistoric times. Spice Gardens highlight Sri Lanka’s rich spice trade, introduced to Europe by explorers like Vasco da Gama. The Cultural Dance Show presents Kandyan, Low Country, and Sabaragamuwa dances, reflecting the island’s traditional heritage. Overnight at Mahaweli Reach Hotel, offering modern comforts and scenic views of the Mahaweli River.

After breakfast, take a scenic train journey to Ella, a picturesque village in Sri Lanka’s Badulla District surrounded by hills and tea plantations. Key attractions include Halpewatte Tea Factory, Little Adam’s Peak, Ravana Ella Falls, and the Nine Arches Bridge, a colonial-era viaduct built with stone and cement, offering stunning views. Overnight at EKHO Ella, a hotel with modern amenities and panoramic views of the Ella Gap, located close to major attractions like Ella Rock and the Nine Arches Bridge.

After breakfast, explore three of Ella’s natural highlights: Little Adam’s Peak – An easy climb through terraced tea fields leads to panoramic views of Ella Rock, tea plantations, and the Ella Gap, stretching to the southern coast on clear days. Ravana Falls – One of Sri Lanka’s widest waterfalls at 25 meters, known for its oval-shaped cascade and seasonal flow. Located 6 km from Ella railway station within the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary. Upper Diyaluma Falls – Sri Lanka’s second-highest waterfall at 220 meters. A short hike offers stunning views and natural infinity pools, with water cascading dramatically into the valley below.

After breakfast, transfer to Beruwala for a day trip to Galle, including visits to Galle Fort, the Mask Museum in Ambalangoda, and a Turtle Hatchery.
